Scottish Puddings : Are these a type of haggis ?
Not exactly no ~ but whilst Haggis may be the "Chieftain
o' the Puddin- race", to ignore it's close cousins would be
missing out on some of the most flavoursome and unique examples of traditional
Scottish fayre. Since we went on-line nearly four years ago we have had a
growing band of faithful customers demanding to get hold of some of our other
famed products of which Black Pudding and Fruit Pudding form the cornerstone.
Traditionally these products are produced in "3 lb sticks" for
Butchers shops - much too cumbersome for the domestic user. We now offer these
in 500 gram lengths - an ideal size for the domestic user. Just slice off what
you need and leave the rest in the fridge. With up to a 6 week shelf life in the
fridge there is no fear of waste. Alternatively these products can be placed in
the freezer for up to a year without loss of quality or flavour.

McKeans Black Pudding contains Onion which when coupled with a
unique blend of spices it creates a product full of flavour. Little
wonder McKeans Black Pudding graces many a Scottish Breakfast plate.

FRUIT
PUDDING: A mixture of Flour, Rusk and Brown Sugar and mixed
together with Currants and Sultanas and a blend of sweet spices ~
cooked long enough and hot enough to create a succulent caramelised
treat. McKeans Fruit Pudding is a wonderful tasty addition to a
Scottish Breakfast although many much prefer it on it's own, served
hot with custard and a dollop of cream! The Fruit Pudding may be
sliced for grilling or pan-frying with a standard size (500grams)
providing up to 10 slices. |
